The orthodox cathedral in Helsinki is an important part of the cityscape. The beautiful towers invite you to come closer, observe. Within, there is beauty.
At the seaside in Hanaholmen in Helsinki, where we were introduced to Finnish and Nordic culture. The sculpture in the photo is a gift from Sweden to Finland on the occasion of the 100 year anniversary of Finnish independence.
On my way to a land of late sunsets it was irresistible to snap a photo of the sunset above the clouds. The next three days will be spent in Finland at the NordKom conference, which brings together communicators from the Lutheran churches in the Nordic countries.
Today we visited one of the many churches in Helsinki: the Rock Church which is carved out of and placed into a large rock formation. This is a beautiful building, probably best experienced during worship.
We walked around, taking in the space, snapping a few photos. I also noticed the lights illuminating the church and took the photo above.
