Another way to plan

Options rather than roadmaps writes Ryan Singer. Because roadmaps carry a risk of uncertainty, expectations and guilt. You declare where you are going and that creates pressure. Options remain open, they can be explored further and may or may not be taken further.

Singer is writing about software development, but I’m sure this could be applied elsewhere.

Ultimately, of course, strategy is about choice: Where are you going to play and where do you want to succeed?
